I had an awesome 1 week of leave. In light of the coming festivities, i managed to meet up with a few groups of friends before I fly off to the Philippines.
First it was chilling with the indians - ravin and chethan together with chiew at Zsofis Tapas bar. Little known fact - this bar was named after a girl the co-owners met in Spain and setting up this bar was their way of trying to reconnect with her. haha!
Zsofis Tapas Bar
the bar is owned by ravin's brother's friends.. thanks for bringing us there! pretty cool chilled out place in Little India.
all drinks come with complimentary tapas, and we decided this was one of the best - Patatas Bravas. Really cheesy, spicy and yummy at the same time!
chethan clearly had one drink too many... no guarantees that your uncle in India wouldn't be reading this.. hahaha

Next, it was a long overdue HCC gathering :) To celebrate ilynn's graduation and her coming back to Singapore for good.
No meeting is complete without Yan's complimentary TCM analysis. We always get a kick out of shoving our wrists towards her and demanding to know what's wrong with our internal systems once the meal is over :D

That night's dinner theme was Let the Great Minds Solve your Dilemma. Everyone took turns to pour out their current most pressing dilemmas and we all discussed to try and find the best solution. It was funny that we all agreed on the same solutions except for chiew's rather subjective problem. The conclusions were that - Yan should take up her TCM position at the hospital, teena should change job if she's bored, i should do post graduate, chiew should remain with her current status and that ilynn should take up her part time vet job for now. Do great minds think alike or what? :)

Then it was an early Christmas celebration with the girls.
We had a nice, cosy and really affordable french dinner at La Petite Cusine, Upper thomson road.
The food was pretty superb, in fact alot of us thought that it was better than the dinner at Sage last year which was nearly double or triple the price.
La Petite Cusine (@ 227 upper thomson road)

Corkage was merely $10. Boons brought wine from leeuwin estate, australia!
The girls shared a plate of pan fried foie gras with salad. I'm really not a big fan of foie gras, but this was quite delectable..

love upper thomson and its quaint shops
old school delights :)
Liquid Kitchen

we had realllyy potent drinks at Liquid Kitchen. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves although the place smelt a little like puke. (apparently there were some sink problems)
The waitress was shocked when ping ordered a Sangria and wanted to know how ping discovered the drink, saying that very little people order that. Maybe that's cos the drink isn't on the menu? And she also asked if we just finished A Levels! HHAHAH her reasoning was that we were the rare few who ordered cocktails instead of beer / wine and that we were all girls hanging out together... strange..

rach's superb new camera - Canon S95. It reminds me of Leica, maybe because of the brown vintage looking camera casing and the high quality photographs. I feel like getting a new camera too...

Tonight, it was an early celebration of Mummy's birthday because i will be away on the actual day :/
Dinner was at Majestic Restaurant. It was good old chinese food with a slight fusion twist. Every dish was impeccably delish. The food was gobbled up in no time and the plates licked clean. Yummy.
Majestic Restaurant
scallops with asparagus
kurobuta pork
my favourite of the lot - steam soon hock in superior soya sauce
my dessert - crispy durian ice cream :9
love the vintage furniture there..

happy birthday mummy!
I will be flying off to Manilla in a few hours time. The itinerary includes touring Mahati and staying at Punta Fuego resort for a few days each. Im slightly worried cos the country is apparently quite dangerous, especially at night.. Wish me a safe trip y'all :)
Goodnight world, while i squeeze in a few hours of snooze before philippines beckons...
